UAE Ministry of Education Curriculum

The Ministry of Education (MoE) is the federal entity overseeing education in public schools across the UAE. MoE has developed a comprehensive national curriculum framework for a wide range of subjects, based on standards and learning outcomes.
Private schools in Abu Dhabi also follow the MoE curriculum, which emphasizes UAE values and culture. Arabic is the language of instruction for most subjects in Abu Dhabi. The curriculum is recognized by colleges and universities in the UAE.

Progression
  • Private schools following the MoE curriculum are divided into Kindergarten (KG1 to KG2), Cycle 1 (Grades 1-4), Cycle 2 (Grades 5-8), and Cycle 3 (Grades 9-12).
  • Kindergarten focuses on developing social skills and building self-confidence in young students.
  • In Cycles 1 and 2, students study subjects from two groups. Group A Subjects include Arabic, English, Mathematics, Science, Islamic, and UAE Social Studies. Group B Subjects include Arts, Drama, Health and Physical Education, Business Studies, Computing, and Design and Technology.

  • Summative assessments are conducted at the end of each term for Grades 4-12. These assessments cover English, Mathematics, Arabic, Science, Islamic Education, and Social Studies. The examinations are developed externally and are formal in nature.
  • In Grade 12, students take the 'Thanawiya Al Amma' exams based on the track they are enrolled in. These exams are crucial for admission to federal universities within the UAE.
