Spanish Curriculum

The Spanish school in Abu Dhabi offers early and primary year programs. It follows the Spanish government national curriculum, which is divided into three key stages: primary education, compulsory secondary education, and baccalaureate curricula.  
Spanish is the language used for instruction across the curriculum. Non-Spanish-speaking students can join a Spanish immersion program for linguistic support. The curriculum is further enhanced by an English language program, seamlessly integrated into the weekly schedule at all education levels.

Progression
  • Children can enroll in the Segundo círculo (Early Years Program) from ages 3-5 and the Primaria Colegio (Primary Years Program) from ages 6-11.
  • The curriculum comprises of two subject categories: Core subjects and specific subjects. a) Core subjects consist of: • Natural Sciences • Social Sciences • Spanish Language and Literature • Mathematics • First Foreign Language b) Specific subjects consist of: • Physical Education • Religion or Social and Civic values (as chosen by the parent/guardian) • Artistic Education • Second Foreign Language

Assessments
  • At the end of the third year of primary education, students are assessed to evaluate their mastery of skills and abilities in both oral and written expression and comprehension, calculation, and problem-solving. This assessment is primarily used to guide students in achieving their learning goals by the end of primary education and to determine if any adjustments are necessary.
  • At the end of the sixth year of primary education, a final evaluation is conducted to assess student's mastery of Mathematics, communication, and basic skills in science and technology, according to the standards of the Spanish national curriculum.
Accreditation
  • The Spanish School in Abu Dhabi is accredited by the Ministry of Education in Spain.
