Assessments
  • Early Years: Students will be assessed individually based on the practitioner’s knowledge of the child, gained predominantly from observation and interaction, in a range of daily activities and events. Responsible pedagogy will enable children to fully demonstrate their learning and development, including their ability to apply consistently and independently what they have learned in everyday situations. This effective assessment procedure provides a holistic view of a child’s progress.
  • Primary: Formative assessment will evaluate the student’s progress during the learning process. Teacher assessments will be conducted to evaluate the student’s level of progress of the Italian curriculum learning objectives. A variety of assessment tools will be used, including formative assessments, inform instruction, continuous assessment tasks, internal testing, quizzes, and projects.
  • Until Grade 7, class-based teacher assessments are the primary tool used to evaluate students’ progress. At the end of Grade 8, students take the national exams in Italian, Math, and a Foreign Language to obtain the Diploma di Scuola Secondaria di Primo Grado, a qualification signifying the end of the first cycle of compulsory education.
